Hundreds of professionals in the fields of accounting, architecture, business, education, engineering, hotel and restaurant management, medicine, entrepreneurship, information technology, public administration, real estate services, and many other disciplines gathered at Hotel Jen, Pasay City on 27 June 2017 for Royal Institution’s 12th International Conference and Conferment Ceremony with the theme “ASEAN Integration: Its Impact on the Philippine Qualifications Framework.”

Honorable FDr. Gerard B. Sanvictores HFRI, DFRIAcc, DFRIFM, DFRIM, Chairman of the Continuing Professional Development Council for Accountancy and Member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy of the Professional Regulations Commission of the Philippines; Honorable FDr. Dr. Gloria T. Baysa HFRI, DFRIAcc, DFRIAdr, DFRIMAcc, Vice Chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy of the Professional Regulations Commission of the Philippines; and Honorable FDr. Gerardo C. Janairo, Chancellor of De La Salle University led the ribbon-cutting cutting ceremony of the research paper presentation. Following the ribbon-cutting was the presentation of 5 research paper poster presentations authored by: • Hon. Jeffrey T. Dela Cruz of City Government of Caloocan; • Engr. Christian P. Enoval of Singapore Telecomunications; • Mr. Raymar C. Francia of San Isidro National High School, Quezon; • Ms. Clariza C. Satorre of San Emmanuel National High School, Tacurong City; and • Dr. Romeo A. Sustiguer Jr. of Green Valley College, Koronadal City.

Three prominent speakers addressed the congress: FDr. Gerard B. Sanvictores discussed the Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016 and its impact on ASEAN integration; FDr. Dr. Samuel M. Salvador, Chancellor of Royal Institution, Singapore discussed ASEAN Integration and its impact on the Philippine Qualifications Framework, and FDr. Prof. Jose David Lapuz tackled ASEAN integration in the field of education.

Following the Congress was the Conferment Ceremony. Many distinguished persons were honored with esteemed conferment, and two notable conferees in particular were Honorable FDr. Prof. Dr. Ofelia M. Carague, President Emeritus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Taguig City University, and Honorable FDr. Gen. Atty. Dr. Alfredo S. Lim, former Senator of the Republic of the Philippines (2004-2007) and Mayor of the City of Manila (1992-1998 & 2007-2013), who became Honorary Fellows of the Royal Institution, the highest and most prestigious honorific lifetime award and title from the Royal Institution. They are henceforth authorised to use the title “HFRI” after their names, after being bestowed with a four-stripe, Royal Powder Blue professional Royal Institution Robe and a hand-crafted gold medallion which they can officially use during all conferment ceremonies, convocations and graduation rites of any universities, colleges, and institutions worldwide.

Honorable FDr. Prof. Dr. Ofelia M. Carague and Honorable FDr. Gen. Atty. Dr. Alfredo S. Lim were also conferred the highest professional title of Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institution, Singapore, earning them the use of the title FDr. before their names. In addition, Honorable FDr. Prof. Dr. Carague was conferred Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Achievers, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIAcr after her name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Educators, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIEdr after her name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Information Technology, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIIT after her name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Management, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIM after her name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Professors, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIProf after her name); and Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Strategic Marketing, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRISM after her name) while Honorable FDr. Gen. Atty. Dr. Lim was conferred Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Achievers, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIAcr after his name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Criminologists (authorising the use of the title DFRICrim after his name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Lawyers, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRILL after his name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Management, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIM after his name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Public Administrators, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRIPAr after his name); Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Security and Defence Management, Singapore (authorising the use of the title DFRISDM after his name); and Doctor Fellow of the Royal Institute of Security and Investigation Management, Singapore (authorising the use of DFRISIM after his name). They should now be properly addressed as Honorable FDr. Prof. Dr. Ofelia M. Carague HFRI, DFRIAcr, DFRIEdr, DFRIIT, DFRIM, DFRIProf, DFRISM, FRIIAC, IVPF and Honorable FDr. Gen. Atty. Dr. Alfredo S. Lim HFRI, DFRIAcr, DFRICrim, DFRILL, DFRIM, DFRIPAr, DFRISDM, DFRISIM, IVPF. These titles are marks of excellence, distinction and stature amongst Royal Institution, Singapore members across the globe.

After the Conferment Ceremony was the induction of International Visiting Professorial Fellows and International Learning and Development Specialists of the Royal Institution, Singapore.

This unprecedented event initiated by the Royal Institution, Singapore has far reaching implications for all attendees. The hundreds of delegates have now gained access to a network of several millions, many of whom may be enticed to visit the Philippines for education tourism, business and investments, contributing to making the Philippines an MICE centre.
