Qualifications

(a) Membership is by invitation and/or nomination.

(b) Individual Membership is open to suitably qualified or approved persons of any nationality.

(c) Individual Membership is divided into ten (10) classes namely: Honorary Fellow, Research Fellow, Fellow (Life), Fellow, Senior Member (Life), Senior Member, Member (Life), Member, Associate Member and Student Member.

LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP OF ALL GRADES ARE AVAILABLE

Honorary Fellows shall be distinguished as prominent persons whose membership shall in the opinion of the Senior Advisory Council adds prestige to and advances the objectives of the respective Royal Institutes. Honorary Fellow memberships shall only be conferred by the Senior Advisory Council.

Doctor Fellows shall be persons who:
  1. have a Doctorate Degree or its equivalent;
  2. are Presidents of an RI accredited educational institution;
  3. are Honorary or Senior Fellows of an accredited professional institution;
  4. have accredited professional qualifications, and are Board Passers or registered with professional regulatory / statutory boards;
  5. have sixteen (16) years of experience in top executive or professional position or its equivalent; or
  6. have thirty two (32) years of relevant academic or professional experience;
  7. are nominated by at least two (2) RI Doctor Fellows; and
  8. whose membership shall in the opinion of the Senior Advisory Council adds prestige to and advances the objectives of the Royal Institutions.


Research Fellows
shall be persons who:

  1. have a Doctorate Degree or its equivalent;
  2. are Presidents of an RI accredited educational institution;
  3. are Fellows of an accredited professional institution;
  4. have accredited professional qualifications, and are Board Passers or registered with professional regulatory / statutory boards;
  5. have ten (10) years of relevant academic or professional experience;
  6. have published books, articles, journals, and other instructional and/or educational materials;
  7. have attended academic or professional conferences;
  8. were awarded scholarship grant/s;
  9. were recipients of academic or professional awards and citations;
  10. participated in civic and social activities;
  11. are nominated by at least two (2) RI Fellows; and
  12. whose membership shall in the opinion of the Senior Advisory Council adds prestige to and advances the objectives of the Royal Institutions.


Senior Fellows
shall be persons who:

  1. have a Doctorate Degree or its equivalent;
  2. are Presidents of an RI accredited educational institution;
  3. are Senior Fellows of an accredited professional institution;
  4. have accredited professional qualifications, and are Board Passers or registered with professional regulatory / statutory boards;
  5. have twelve (12) years of experience in top executive or professional position or its equivalent;
  6. have twenty four (24) years of relevant academic or professional experience;
  7. are nominated by at least two (2) RI Senior Fellows; and
  8. whose membership shall in the opinion of the Senior Advisory Council adds prestige to and advances the objectives of the respective constituent Royal Institutes.


Fellows
shall be persons who:

  1. have a Doctorate Degree or its equivalent;
  2. are Presidents of an RI accredited educational institution;
  3. are Fellows of an accredited professional institution;
  4. have accredited professional qualifications, and are Board Passers or registered with professional regulatory / statutory boards;
  5. have eight (8) years of experience in top executive or professional position or its equivalent;
  6. have sixteen (16) years of relevant academic or professional experience;
  7. are nominated by at least two (2) RI Fellows; and
  8. whose membership shall in the opinion of the Senior Advisory Council adds prestige to and advances the objectives of the respective constituent Royal Institutes.


Senior Members
shall be persons who:

  1. have a Masters degree or its equivalent;
  2. are Senior Members of an accredited professional institution;
  3. have accredited professional qualifications, and are Board Passers or registered with professional regulatory statutory boards;
  4. have four (4) years of experience in senior executive or professional position or its equivalent;
  5. have eight (8) years of relevant academic or professional experience;
  6. are nominated by at least two (2) RI Senior Members; and
  7. whose membership shall in the opinion of the Senior Council adds prestige to and advances the objectives of the respective constituent Royal Institutes.


Members
shall be persons who:

  1. have a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent;
  2. are Members of an accredited professional institution;
  3. have two (2) years of relevant experience;
  4. have four (4) years of relevant academic or professional experience;
  5. are nominated by at least two (2) RI Members; and
  6. whose memberships shall in the opinion of the Senior Advisory Council adds prestige to and advances the objectives of the respective Royal Institutes.


Associate Members
shall be persons who:

  1. have an Accredited Diploma or its equivalent; and
  2. have satisfied the Membership Committee that they are worthy of election as Associate Members.


Student Members
shall be persons who:

  1. are students and/or undergoing accredited courses of study; and
  2. have satisfied the Membership Committee that they are worthy of election as Student Members.

NOTE:

  1. Membership does not entitle members to any rights in the Royal Institution and its more than 222 constituent Royal Institutes.
  2. Members who wish to practice their professions are advised to strictly comply with the rules, regulations and/ or laws governing such practice in their respective countries.
  3. Doctor Fellows, Research Fellows, Senior Fellows, Fellows, Senior Members, and Members may apply for Lifetime Membership by paying five (5) times the respective Annual Fees.
  4. Royal Institution and all its Royal Institutes reserve the absolute right to terminate and/or to refuse to renew the membership of any individual or company due to failure to honour their Pledge of Loyalty to RI.
